The Pheasant crossroads looking towards the site (where the tree is) where Sportif Citroën Chalfont now is. The roadway running to the left behind the telegraph pole is the B4442 Vache Lane which leads into Nightingales Lane. The roadway in front of the two houses is the A413 running to Amersham to the left and Chalfont St Peter to the right. The house on the left which was subsequently demolished was called The Nook. Sunnyside, the house on the right, was owned by J R Bailey, a butcher who early in the century set up shop in a shed in his garden before progressing to become landlord of The Crown and also to run a butcher's shop from the premises.
