The Limes is the right portion of a building constructed by Daniel Ryder near the centre of the western edge of Gold Hill Common, Chalfont St Peter c1908. It was previously known as The Rest and adjoins Briston Cottage. On the north side it abuts Ashton, an older pair of cottages now converted to one dwelling. The Limes and Briston Cottage occupy in part a portion of a parcel of waste land to the west of Gold Hill Common which was copyhold and was enclosed on 7 December 1859 and enfranchised on 27 March 1869.
